Supreme Court puts stay on tariff ruling against Reliance Energy

The Supreme Court on Friday stayed the order of a tribunal asking Reliance Energy Ltd to refund additional electricity charges of at least Rs250 crore levied on Mumbai multiplexes and shopping malls.
A bench headed by justice B.N. Agrawal ordered that the money would not be refunded to the commercial consumers until the final disposal of the case.

Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Reliance, said that unless the order was stayed, pending adjudication of the case, the company would have to collect funds from regular consumers.

Gas production from KG fields soon, RIL says

New Delhi: Reliance Industries Ltd said on Friday it will start producing natural gas from its eastern offshore KG-D6 fields in the next few days and supplies to all users will begin by mid-April.

(Gas production) will start in the next few days absolutely, said P.M.S. Prasad, head of company’s oil and gas business at the signing of gas sales contracts with fertilizer companies on Friday.

Prasad said the company will start output at 10 million standard cubic metre per day (mscmd) in April and will rise by 10 mscmd every month reaching 40 mscmd by July end.
